IMRaD
The biggest difference between IMRaD papers and argumentative papers is the meaning and purpose of writing them. IMRaD means intro, method, results, and discussion, whereas argumentative papers aren't as structured. Argumentative papers have different heading to explain the topics throughout the paper and are written in APA format.
Argumentative papers aren't based off of a survey or experiment that you conducted. It's based off of research you do to find sources/information that support your argument. IMRaD papers on the other hand are based off of an experiment or survey. For these papers, that information is used to present a claim and then further prove it with the results you collect.
IMRaD papers are set up with different and separate paragraphs (intro, method, results, and discussion). Argumentative papers are set up with different paragraphs that you title and put in the order yourself that relate to the overall title/topic.
